We love rustic style weddings here at The Wedding of my Dreams, whether they are in barn wedding venues, tipi’s, old farms or at home. Using rustic décor to create a relaxed outdoorsy, rustic setting for your wedding is one of my personal favourites. We have recently started selling hessian / burlap fabric as part of our range of rustic themed wedding decorations. Hessian can add lovely details and finishing touches, if you’re stuck for ideas we have gathered some hessian wedding inspiration below.

Use long lengths of hessian / burlap to create table runners along your tables. Whether you are having long tables or round guest tables the hessian table runners add an extra dimension to your décor. Let the ends of the runners hang loose or tie with twine or ribbon. Hessian table runners can be left with frayed edges if you are only using once – this adds to the rustic styling. If you will be using them many times we suggest you edge the runners.

Add hessian details to your wedding tables, tie hessian around napkins. You can even print onto hessian to create personalised table runners. Print or paint table numbers on to the runners to label each table.

Hessian / Burlap makes truly rustic wedding chair back. Just cut long lengths of the fabric and tie around the bride and grooms chair to make them special. Add a small bundle of gypsophilia for a final finishing touch.

As the bridesmaid walk town the aisle in front of the bride ask them to carry a personalised sign. Hessian signs saying here comes the bride are a lovely touch. You can paint this on yourself or print on to iron on fabric transfers.

Create a beautiful backdrop for your wedding ceremony from strips of hessian. Hang from wooden branches and let the hessian drape creating a lovely backdrop, this could be moved from the ceremony to behind your top table so you can use it more than once in the day.

Use spare cut offs of hessian to tie around jams jars and use as tea light holders or fill with country garden flowers. Tie hessian around your cutlery and wine glasses to continue the rustic look.hessian wedding

Why not make personalised signs from hessian. This thank you sign can be used as a prop on the wedding day. Ask your photographer to take a photo and use it on your thank you cards.hessian signs

  1. So much inspiration here. I am getting married in a barn and want it to be all rustic. We are having hessian table runners, chair backs and tying it around the napkins.
